Overview
In the late 18th century, as Han settlers entered the Lanyang Plain, Wushi Harbor began to emerge as a strategic gateway for maritime transport and external trade. After administrative designation in 1826, the harbor evolved into a regional commercial node that reflected the social and economic transformation of Yilan. With the opening of New Wushi Harbor in 2003, old and new port cultures now coexist, revealing two centuries of local memory and coastal identity.
Marking the 200th anniversary of Wushi Harbor's official opening, this exhibition combines historical archives with monumental wood carving artistry. Through narratives of shipping routes, community memory, and cultural encounters, it portrays how Wushi Harbor has continuously reshaped Yilan's coastal life.
